I find it hard to deal with this constant western chauvanism sometimes. People will happily agree that our government doesn't give a shit about the people, but the instant a bad guy country government is mentioned, suddenly our government loves us all and cherishes every citizen and bad guy country government is pointlessly evil and cruel and actively delights in causing pain and suffering for no reason. It feels so isolating, like people will suddenly act like they've had their programming take over and robotically spout nonsense about a country they couldn't point to on a map.
