TIL there's no federal minimum age to shoot a gun. Here's the NRA talking about introducing 5 year olds to firearms:

I learned to shoot at 7. It’s not inherently dangerous if you’re taught well.

It's also life saving to expose children to guns in a controlled environment. It reduces the chance of something bad happening if they happen to find a gun at some point.

As much as I respect gun safety, the gun owning parents barely trust their 5 year old not to spill their juice on the couch, so how can they justify a gun? I think it's entirely unnecessary for children to learn to shoot that young. You don't need to hold a gun to know it's dangerous.
