], but some suck at statistically significant levels.
I used to really like Fantano. I still agree with most of his music takes, even though I don't really explore much music most of the time when I hear about something he says I agree with it. He's got good politics AFAIK. But I just kinda don't like his vibe anymore, he's a little too annoying even for me. I'm glad he's around, though, I think a lot of other people in that kind of position where they review a lot of punk/otherwise radical music tend to be more liberal.
as much as I find fantano specifically annoying I just don't think longform talky video is a great format for dealing with music seriously in an interesting way. I'd rather just....listen to the music. the finnerty style "muso dissects bad music" approach is a lot more palatable and even informative at times
I like long form meta-music talky videos like Todd in the Shadows or Trash Theory but then I'm a dork whose always been more interested in history than music.
Have you watched sideways? They fell off the map a few years ago, but their videos are top notch music slop.
Speaking of music creators, I really don't like Adam Neely's vibe. Nothing against the guy, he just rubs me the wrong way.
It’s that Berklee smug.
I have now
heyo finnerty is my fav music youtuber for sure. like at least make it funny right? if you’re gonna talk for half an hour about music 😫
I never watched a single video of his after 2018 because he gave one of my favorite albums at the time [Slowdive’s S/T] a 3 or a 4
That is rough. I think I checked out around the time he gave BCNR's AFUT a 9/10 which is an amazing score, but his only problem with the album was the mixing of the drums on Snowglobes... which I think was pretty clearly intentional to create some dissonance and discomfort? And it just worked incredibly well to set up Basketball Shoes? Oh well. I did just stop really listening to new music around that time so that had more to do with it.
