A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.
Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:
- Both “200” and “160” are 2 minutes in microwave math
- When you’re a kid, you don’t realize you’re also watching your mom and dad grow up.
- More dreams have been destroyed by alarm clocks than anything else
Rules
- All posts must be showerthoughts
- The entire showerthought must be in the title
- No politics
- If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
- A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
- Posts must be original/unique
- Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS
If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

American style coffee is not real coffee.
This depends on what part of the country you're in. Maybe on the east coast where everyone apparently drinks "Dunkin'" or McDonalds coffee but here in the PNW we do it right.
Electric drip Brewers and paper filters for coffee making are European things. The only 'American' brewing method I can think of is using an aero press or maybe instant coffee.
Wasn't the expresso machine an American invention?
Aeropress is the best coffee invention in the last 50 years, fight me.
I agree, superior brewing methods were invented more than 50 years ago 😉
Most of the Europeans know what an espresso machine is.
knowing about them does not correlate very well with owning them
I would beg to differ
Of course you would because your whole opinion hinges on it.
They also know what drip brew coffee is, you have no point worth making.
What do you mean by "American style"?
For me "American style coffee" always makes me think about Percolators. Not sure why 🤔
Make it with a dirty sock like the cowboys do (supposedly)
Is this a quote or reference to anything? Because I don't get it.
Electric drip Brewers and paper filters
I saw them both at the Hollywood Bowl.
Which is perfectly fine coffee, if done right. It's not as good as freshly brewed from beans, but it is what I grew up with.
Incredibly cringe opinion, congratulations
Who cares. Starbucks makes every day better. Praise Starbucks. Can't wait for Summer Flavors!
Starbucks is burnt crap with a bunch of cream and sugar added so people can't tell
Not to mention it is way overpriced to give the illusion of quality
Starbucks use perfumes you can smell it it is basically a candy store. The best coffee is easiest and basic. But it requires natural ingredients. 🤌
Do you have a cat? That's one hell of a way to spell "good".
In Australia Starbucks failed cos its coffee was so shit relative to our real coffee.
Y'all like vegemite, shut up
Yeah and vegimite has been proven to reduce all sorts of disease. Its part of being healthy u Americans should try it some time.
Did the blood go to your brain from being upside down for your whole life?
From my perspective its the rest of the world that's the wrong way up
