I got another LP in the mail today and was about to put it in the crate with the rest when I impulse bought this little guy from the nearby Best Buy because I just had to hear it.
I got the Victrola as a gift a few years ago, along with a few albums to get started. I quickly learned how bad it was for the vinyl after playing some new, cheap pressings a few times. Kept getting vinyl with the intent of saving up enough for a nice direct-drive Technics, but it never worked out money-wise.
Finally decided to compromise and not wait until I could get my forever-table before just getting one. Looking forward to working my way through my collection, it's got some real gems in there now.
First listen was the new Spiritbox album Tsunami Sea, if anyone's curious.
What other germs you got? Any first pressings? I've got some SRV, Rumours (incredible), ZZ Top, Joe Cocker, Steely Dan (Aja) & Seals & Croft all 1st press but the Fleetwood, Seals & Croft, and Steely are the winners by far.
I have a 2nd pressing Hemispheres by Rush and a 1st or 2nd (I forget which) pressing of Kind Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King. Also have a few old inherited ones I haven't dug into on Discogs. Just got Eagles - The Long Run and Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band - Stranger in Town as well, haven't looked into pressing year yet.
I have a bunch of new pressings from newer artists as well, new pressings of classics like Queen, AC/DC and Pink Floyd, some GY!BE, some thrift store classical records, and some soundtracks including some limited releases.
Going to be listening to 1 new record per day till I get through them all, hardest part is going to be choosing
Oh man, those first 2 albums are magic. Bravo. I should get some AC/DC. Sweet collection so far. Lots of stuff that's gonna sound great!
