Proof to me that evolution has never been about 'survival of the fittest', just 'survival of the good-enough to reach breeding age'.

Reaching breeding age and procreating is being the fittest though. At least in terms of evolution, you're right it doesn't select for the "best" just whatever lives long enough to fuck.
