That's only true because Trump would've made the same mistakes. He signed the first stimulus bill, after all, and was pushing for weird alternative treatments, so I have no doubt he would've had similar policies that would've continued to disrupt global supply chains and unbalance monetary policy.
The problem here is short sighted policies (i.e. win the midterms) that juice things enough to punt problems down the road.
What we should have done IMO is strongly encourage the elderly to stay home and otherwise keep business as usual. Lots of people would get sick, but we'd get some level of herd immunity quickly and keep the economy moving while protecting the most vulnerable. Both candidates would've juiced the economy with stimulus packages, and that directly contributed to inflation.
