with irl I mean somebody you actually know.

For me it's my mom. Growing up in a time and place where privilege was (and sadly still is) a thing for men in the dominant class/ethnicity, she taught me and my siblings to never yield to injustice and inequality. She was not very political aware, but lived her philosophy with her daily praxis. When I started learning about leftist ideology it felt like it fitted me like a glove.

I have this doctor friend. He absolutely chooses the public hospitals in the poorest areas. He can make many times that in a posh hospital, but he won't. He's learning Chinese so he can read Mao in the original language. He randomly hits me up with questions about Linux, and he's using Debian. He's not Hakim, btw. Although fuck he knows his theory.

He's busy AF and we meet for real MAYBE twice a year.
