Forgot to put my student permit on the car because I was in a rush this morning though - copped a $200 fine. Just what I need. Ruined my day

Any chance you can get the fine waived by calling them and explaining the situation?

[โ€“] just_kitten@aussie.zone 1 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

No because although it's University land the parking is overseen by Council and so they do not give two shits. "I had a 7am start and was rushing to meet my supervisor to get out into the field" is not considered adequate. The stinger is that they fined me only shortly before I got back from the field anyway.... grrrrrrr

blah, that's so annoying!

I'm sorry :(

It might be worth a shot. Just a simple explanation, was in a rush, forgot to put up permit, first time, lesson learned, attach photo of said permit. I got out of one last year with an ' official warning' because my delightful mother brought her disability permit with her, but left it in her handbag instead of applying it to the screen. Took me 5 minutes to apply for a review and saved my ass $200.

Could I ask which council it was? I guess I could try.. I did remember to put my bloody sun shade on but not the permit. Guess I could say I was in a rush and put the shade over the permit which I'm sure happens all the time too...

@just_kitten @Eagle seems like you don't have much to lose, the worst they can do is say no.

Yeah, I'll give it a crack. Really could do without this at this time of the year. (I get disproportionately sensitive to rejection sometimes so I don't like hearing no but it's worth it if there's even a 5% chance of saving that much)

I'm not one to fight for much, but gave it a shot and it worked for me. Even better, it was all online.

Mine was Casey, who have a reputationfor being aholes, but all councils should have the option.
