As I said on other posts about this: Remember that jury nullification exists. If you're on the jury for the shooter, or someone like him, you can just say not guilty and there's nothing they can do to you. The court can't tell you that you gave the "wrong" verdict.
Just don't tell them you're going to nullify, because they'll remove you from the jury.
