A "refined palate" isn't a beneficial or good trait.
Being unable to stomach a good raw ingredient after a basic cooking process doesn't make you better.
A demanding palate is a special need.
A special need mostly only nobles historically were able to meet.
We're talking about food culture, not sustenance.
