Caicedo deal at Chelsea is a 9+1. No way this causes them problems down the line, right?

They seem to be targetting high potential players and putting them on sub 100k wages for looong periods. The thing is, surely if you're a player who thinks you're gonna be a star, you back yourself to be worth significantly more in a few years. So either these players will kick up a fuss in a few years as soon as they turn good, or they'll be overpaid mediocre players on decade long contracts.

From their perspective, the alternative is that they will guarantee resale value I guess? Cuz if they turn out mediocre, you still get a bit of money out of them and they can't go on a free.

Not convinced by it but we'll see. I think the way it will be judged in future will be dependent on how well Chelsea have done their scouting tbh, as dumb as that is.
