Why is this stereotype so pervasive? Am I the only person who wasn't obsessed with dinasours? I feel like I'd seen more instances of this being depicted than actual dinasours as a kid

Yeah you're the weirdo

It's just a super common subject for children to be interested in. Especially if your class did a field trip to a museum with dinosaur skeletons.

Even as an adult, seeing a T-Rex skeleton is awe inspiring.

I don't know I never did dinosaurs. I was all about my power ranger and Jedi imaginary friends. We were gonna beat up Darth Vader.

I was a kid and didn't have the concept of death. Still apparently I had it better than Disney. I knew the emperor was not existing after the 2nd death star exploded.
