UT22 by Bubbleology (lemmy.world)

Have been using the UT22 with the Taipo layout for a while now and am very happy with it. (Nowhere near my usual speeds yet, but very usable for recreational purposes!)

The case is Bubbleology's own closed-source design, which he kindly allowed me to get printed.

The firmware I'm using can be found here. :)

How useable do you find the extra outer key, and what do you use it for?

I'm working on my own TAIPO inspired layout, trying to make it more functional for CAD use, and for optimization of modifiers an extra key would be useful. An extra thumb key was my first thought though.

I don't find it any usable and just don't use it at all 😅 I feel like there's enough unused combo space left, no additional keys needed :)

Ergonomic, split and other weird keyboards

Rules

Keep it ergo

Posts must be of/about keyboards that have a clear delineation between the left and right halves of the keyboard, column stagger, or both. This includes one-handed (one half doesn't exist, what clearer delineation is that!?)

i.e. no regular non-split¹ row-stagger and no non-split¹ ortholinear²

¹ split meaning a separation of the halves, whether fixed in place or entirely separate, both are fine.
² ortholinear meaning keys layed out in a grid
