It looks like there is a market inside the grounds, but I'm not interested in paying over $100 to shop for local crafts...

Yeah it's been a while since I've been down there and I remember it being a nice little market. I was going to check it out but when I went to find the hours I realized it seemed more restricted and "official" now.

@JohnnyCanuck @Shadow
I’m doing media, but I walked around and there’s some folks set up outside the front gate and if you walk around by the water, there’s other venders set up outside the far end of the festival

Then there’s of course, lots of vendors inside who paid to support the #VancouverFolkFestival

But I understand not everybody can afford the money to get in

I wish there was another way to keep the festival going

I’d hate to see #Vancouver lose it

Yeah, I get that there's money involved in running the festival, but I'm not interested in the music. I just want to check out the vendors and I'm not paying ~~$100~~ $140 to check out a few booths to buy crafts.

If I was a vendor, I wouldn't want to spend money to set up in a space where people have to pay that much to see my goods.

Even the Etsy fairs are at the edge of what I'm willing to spend to go see vendors, and I think that was only $5.

I wish there was another way to keep the festival going

If they're selling out at $140 a pop, more power to them, but I'm guessing most of those people are paying that for the music, not the vendors. They should set up the vendors in a space that's free or a hell of a lot cheaper to allow more people to check them out.

Having traveled to many countries, and attending many a street market, I have to say that our support for small businesses to sell stuff on the street is absolutely atrocious here in Canada. Anyone remember Baklava Man?
