A community for everything related to West Asia, wrongly referred to as "The Middle East", and the imperialism currently underway by the imperialist force known as the United States of America.

We always take the sides of West Asia revolutionary forces and are unapologetic about it. The United States is an imperialist power that undermines the right of self-determination of West Asia, and has murdered millions of people in the area.

Mamdani’s answer: “Absolutely. I called October 7th a war crime. I called it horrific. I’ve condemned time and again the killing of civilians. That is completely unacceptable. And that is something I’ve been consistent with and will continue to do because ultimately, you can’t consider one thing a war crime and not the other. This comes back to a consistent application of that.”

In an April interview with the Forward’s Jacob Kornbluh, Mamdani clarified his view, calling the Oct. 7 attacks “a horrific war crime” and condemning a rally that celebrated the attacks.

Mamdani spoke about many Jews’ fears of violence. Quote: “You know, just a few days after the horrific war crime of October 7, a friend of mine told me about how he went to his synagogue for Shabbat services, and he heard the door open behind him, and a tremor went up his spine as he turned around, not knowing who was there and what they meant for him. I spoke to a Jewish man in Williamsburg just months ago who told me that the door he left unlocked for decades is now one that he locks. And ultimately, this is because we’re seeing a crisis of antisemitism.”

And he’s called the Oct. 7 attack a “horrific war crime.”

The Ansarallah spokesperson Mohammed Abdul Salam in Yemen extended its warmest congratulations to the leadership and people of Iran. In a statement, the bureau declared that Iran’s mighty and unprecedented strike has broken the barrier of fear and established new rules of engagement. He affirmed that the heroic response has healed the hearts of a billion Muslims and that Yemen stands firmly with the Islamic Republic of Iran in its sacred jihad of the True Promise 3 operation.

In a separate message, Mahdi al-Mashat, President of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, congratulated the Iranian leadership, stating: “We followed with great pride and joy the great and historic victory achieved by the Islamic Republic of Iran in its blessed military operation against the usurping Zionist enemy entity. This decisive and strategic response has cooled the hearts of our Arab and Islamic nation.”

The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) celebrated the Iranian victory, declaring that the zionist entity and its allies now understand that the era of unopposed aggression has ended. The DFLP asserted that the “Axis of Resistance is more cohesive and stronger than ever” and that the strike has exposed the fragility of the enemy’s security and military systems. The Front emphasized that this victory is a triumph for the Palestinian people and all who resist the zionist-American project.

Fatah Al-Intifada applauded the “historic and clear victory,” stating that the blessed epic has confirmed that the era of defeats is over and the Axis of Resistance is a force to be reckoned with. The movement praised the operation for shattering the enemy’s manufactured prestige and affirmed its unwavering commitment to the trench of resistance, which has restored the nation’s dignity. “Glory to the martyrs, victory to the resistance, and shame and disgrace to the zionist entity and its helpers.”

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command (PFLP-GC) offered its congratulations to the Iranian leadership, military and people. The PFLP-GC described the victory as a “qualitative and historic blow” that has altered the course of the conflict with the Zionist enemy. The statement highlighted that the operation demonstrated Iran’s advanced military capabilities and its readiness to defend its sovereignty and the oppressed peoples of the region, foretelling the inevitable liberation of Palestine.

The Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) saluted the Iranian leadership for its courageous and strategic decision to respond to the zionist aggression. The SSNP viewed the victory as a strategic turning point that strengthens the position of the Axis of Resistance. The party emphasized that the strike has “confused the enemy and its supporters, proving that the language of force is the only language it understands,” and called for a unified front to continue confronting the common enemy.

Senior Hamas leader Ahmed Abdul-Hadi declared that Iran has achieved a significant victory over “israel.” He attributed this to Iran’s ability to thwart “israel’s” objectives, instill fear through unprecedented missile strikes and undermine its national security — especially following the Al-Aqsa Flood operation. Abdul-Hadi emphasized, “Iran was victorious, because it won the political and moral battle that the enemy lost in its war of extermination in Gaza.” He added that this victory could mark the beginning of a new phase of resistance, benefiting Palestine, Gaza, Lebanon and all honorable resistance fighters.

Given the current unstable and dangerous situation in Iran and the wider region, the undersigned organizations consider it their duty to adopt a collective stance.

The working people of Iran—workers, teachers, nurses, retirees, and other wage earners—have not benefited and will not benefit from war, the spread of militarism, the bombing of the country, or authoritarian and exploitative policies.

Israel’s military attacks and the bombing of hundreds of targets across different parts of Iran—including infrastructure sites, workplaces, refineries, and residential areas—are part of a warmongering agenda for which ordinary people, especially the working class, are paying the price with their lives and livelihoods.

Israel’s claim that it holds no hostility toward the Iranian people is nothing but a lie and political propaganda. Just yesterday, the Israeli Defense Minister threatened to “burn Tehran.” The repeated threats by Trump and other American officials, along with the full support of Western governments for these actions, have only intensified tensions, insecurity, and destruction in the region.

The Israeli and American governments are the main perpetrators of the current genocide in Gaza and many other crimes across the region and the world. Meanwhile, international institutions such as the United Nations—despite their hypocritical claims of promoting peace—remain silent in the face of these atrocities and are part of the same system of domination. The global capitalist system, with its profit-driven logic and [neo]imperialist powers, is one of the fundamental causes of war, human disasters, and environmental destruction.

Not only does the Iranian working class gain nothing from these wars—they are directly targeted by them. Ongoing economic sanctions, bloated military budgets, and restrictions on civil liberties lead only to greater poverty, intensified repression, hunger, death, and the displacement of millions.

We, the independent labor and popular organizations and activists of Iran, hold no illusions that the United States and Israel intend to bring us freedom, equality, or justice—just as we hold no illusions about the Islamic Republic’s repressive, interventionist, adventurist, and anti-labor policies and practices.

We, the workers and toilers of Iran, have paid a heavy price over the years to achieve our most basic rights and conditions of life. We have endured imprisonment, torture, execution, expulsion, threats, and beatings, and we are still denied the right to organize, gather, and express ourselves freely. The workers and toilers of this country are justifiably outraged and fed up with the rule of the Islamic Republic and with the capitalists who have accumulated astronomical wealth on our backs for more than four decades, while keeping us in constant insecurity and deprivation.

All officials and institutions responsible for the repression and killing of workers, women, youth, and the oppressed in Iran must be prosecuted and held accountable by the oppressed themselves.

Our struggle, as workers, is a social and class struggle. It will continue through reliance on our own strength, in the footsteps of recent movements such as “Bread, Work, Freedom” and “Woman, Life, Freedom,” and with the support of the international working class and all humanitarian, freedom-seeking, and equality-oriented forces.

Continuing along the current path of war will bring nothing but further destruction, irreversible environmental damage, and renewed human tragedy. The working class and the oppressed people of Iran—like the oppressed across the region—are the main victims of this situation.

The undersigned organizations call on all labor unions, human rights groups, anti-war coalitions, environmental activists, and peace movements around the world to unite in demanding an immediate end to war, bombings, the killing of innocent people, and the destruction of nature—and to support the struggles of the people of Iran and the wider region against genocide, warmongering, and oppression.

The peoples of the Middle East need an end to the destructive tensions between regional and global powers, and the establishment of lasting peace—a peace in which people can determine their own destiny through organization, mass mobilization, growing protest movements, and direct, collective participation.

No to war — No to warmongering policies

An immediate ceasefire is our urgent demand.

Syria's new government is facing mounting criticism at home over its failure to condemn Israel for violating its air space to attack Iran, with Syrians demanding Damascus leverage its growing diplomatic relations and call for a halt to the breaches.

For a fifth consecutive day, Syrians have looked to the skies, watching as Israeli jets roar high above the clouds as the thuds from explosions bellow out — signs that Iranian drones and missiles have apparently been intercepted by U.S. weaponry over Syria.

While social media has been awash with sarcastic commentary about the hostilities between Israel and Iran — two nations many Syrian revolutionaries view as enemies — the reality on the ground has been marked by anxiety and fear, especially in Syria's southern provinces near the Israeli border.

Emad al-Basiri, an activist based in Daraa province, told Middle East Eye that fragments from drones and missiles have repeatedly fallen on residential areas, causing widespread alarm.

“People are extremely tense,” Basiri said.

“The explosions are terrifying. Drones crashing down have destroyed homes and caused agricultural fires,” he added.

[…]

The Syrian government has failed to issue any official condemnations of the violations of its airspace — either by Israel or Iran.

This contrasts with steps taken by neighbouring Iraq, which filed an official complaint with the United Nations after Israeli aircraft crossed its airspace to strike targets in Iran.

Basiri emphasised that residents in Daraa and Quneitra feel they need protection from the new government that emerged after rebels ousted the Assad dynasty on 8 December, ending the country's brutal 14-year civil war.

"Syria's airspace and borders are completely unguarded," he said, adding that the nearest Syrian security forces are about nine-kilometres from the Israeli border.

"We call on the government to take control of the borders."

Meanwhile, Israeli patrols have continued to enter Syrian territory, and have carried out dozens of arbitrary arrests and killed one person last week.

Fadel Abdul Ghany, the director of the Syrian Network for Human Rights, told MEE that the Syrian government should file a complaint with the UN Security Council under Articles 35 and 51 of the UN Charter.

These articles allow nations to defend themselves and request international action to halt hostilities on their territory.

“The Syrian government must step up its diplomatic efforts,” Abdul Ghany said.

“It should oppose the militarisation of its airspace, demand a humanitarian flight corridor, and assert its neutrality by rejecting the use of its skies for any hostile actions.”
