Before I had a Surface Pro 9 i5, 8gb RAM and 256gb. I used it mostly for school and light use in general but it was flawed. I really liked the idea of an Windows Tablet but I found that an intel-based Tablet was a bad idea. The battery lasted not that long and it got hot very easily and therefore it thermothrottled often and the fans started spinning. So around 2 weeks ago, I decided to sell that and get myself the Surface Pro 12 inch.
The SP 12" runs far cooler than the SP 9, which is great for drawing/note taking (hand doesnt stick to screen anymore) and especially in school it is great because the fans wont randomly spin to life and make alot of noise.
The batterylife is also a big step up from the SP 9 as I reach up to 14 hours of active using which I believed was impossible with a windows device. For school it is great because before i had to take a powerbank with me to survive the day with my old SP 9.
I had some concernes about Windows-on-Arm but I have yet to find any problems with it. My experience was really good. Somehow Windows feels more snappier and faster on the SP 12" even compared to my main rig.
The performance is also really great on this device. The only time it struggled a bit was when I tried using CakeWalk Next and it had some dips here and there, but after I changed the power setting from "battery efficiency" to "better performance" or "best performance" it ran smooth.
The new size is really great and feels alot more portable than the 13 inch models. It also feels alot lighter which I also like.
I really like the accessories but they are still far to expensive. I can understand 900€ for the SP 12" but I cant understand 200€ for a keyboard and pen.
Unfortunately I have to say that the lower pixel density is really noticable if you used other models before. For example in OneNote if you write with the pencil you can see that the lines are a little more pixelated compared to the SP 9.
Another thing that isnt that great about the screen is that it only goes up to (i believe) 400 nits brightness. indoors its not a problem but outdoors it can be a bit to dimm. Also the screen is really reflective so I recommend a matt-screen protector.
In the end I can say that the SP 12" is by far the better Tablet (especially for Students) than any other Windows Tablet that is based on Intel (I dont know about other Arm-Tablets like the ASUS Pro Art Pz13).
If anyone has questions about the SP 12" Im here to answer as best as I can.
And if somebody knows where to buy dbrand like skins for the SP 12" but in europe (I am not ready to pay those insane shipment costs), pls tell me
