Seems like a fairly low effort collab to me.

Testing a Samsung phone after using a Pixel. When charging overnight, the Pixel charges to 80%, then pauses until soon before I have my alarm set.

Does Samsung have a feature like this? I don't see it

Samsung Electronics today announced that it has released an update for its “Try Galaxy” app, allowing non-Android smartphone1 users to test drive the intuitive One UI 5.1.1 and explore features from the new Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5. To fully showcase the benefits of the Galaxy Z Fold5’s immersive screen, the updated “Try Galaxy” app also offers a new feature that uses two connected phones to simulate the foldable experience.

Hi! I just switched to a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra a few ways ago, from a Pixel 7 Pro. I immediately disliked how the notifications came in collapsed by default. I found the option in notification settings to change the notification style to "Detailed" but they still show up collapsed and require an extra swipe or tap to expand. It's really annoying. Anyone know the cause of this? Or a fix? Is it a bug?

For those on the OneUI 6 beta, is this fixed?

Samsung focuses on refining a tried-and-true formula, but how much longer can it afford to coast?

You can't look forward to a green future without backwards-compatibility

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like all the Galaxy S23 FE lenses will see an upgrade, but the most important ones should.

  • The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE might get an upgraded selfie camera borrowed from the Galaxy S22 series.
  • This would join the previously leaked upgrade of the primary rear camera.
  • However, the telephoto and ultrawide lenses would likely not see upgrades.

Samsung’s newest flip phone brings a considerably larger cover screen, gets an upgraded hinge design that eliminates the gap between the two halves of the screen, has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 ‘For Galaxy’ chip under the hood, and comes with Android 13 and a newer version of One UI (5.1.1) out of the box.

Those are pretty much the only notable upgrades that you get over the Galaxy Z Flip 4, so the Galaxy Flip 5 isn’t as exciting as we would have liked (though it’s certainly more exciting than the Fold 5). And it turns out that the Z Flip 5 also misses out on Samsung DeX support, as we have learned at the Unpacked event in Korea.

Back in May, we had exclusively revealed that the Z Flip 5 would be the first device in the lineup to support Samsung DeX. But we couldn’t find it anywhere on the phone that we got to play around with, and according to our sources, it’s not because Galaxy Z Flip 5 units are currently running non-final firmware.

We’re told Samsung simply decided to cancel plans to add DeX support to the Galaxy Z Flip 5 without providing any reason. Could Samsung change its mind later and add the feature with a software update? It’s possible, but right now, those who buy a Galaxy Z Flip 5 will want to keep in mind that it won’t have DeX support and there is no word on whether will change in the future.

It’s disappointing that in the three years since the first Flip was launched, Samsung DeX is still not available on the lineup. And it’s not like the Galaxy Z Flip smartphones are incapable of running DeX. Each model was powered by the latest Snapdragon chip at the time and that’s true for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 as well, but Samsung continues to artificially limit the capabilities of the software on them.

Perhaps Samsung doesn’t think the Galaxy Z Flip series phones can handle the heat that is generated by the use of DeX because of their compact designs, or the company wants people to buy the considerably pricier Galaxy Z Folds for the full-fledged software experience. Perhaps Samsung is saving DeX for the Galaxy Z Flip 6 to pad the next model’s list of new features. Whatever the reasons may be, here’s hoping Samsung reconsiders its decision.

Alongside the Galaxy Watch 6 series, Samsung is introducing a new band connector for smartwatches as well as a new fabric band, and they’ll work across all modern Galaxy Watch models.

Samsung’s new “One-Click” band mechanism allows Galaxy Watch bands to connect to the watch without needing any tools, and it replaces the usual pin that you can push over to switch the band.

This new system notably doesn’t replace a traditional spring pin. You can still connect any 20 mm or 22 mm band (depending on the model) to a Galaxy Watch. This new system is just retrofitted into that. I had a chance to try this hands-on last week and found it works rather well. Pushing the button makes it easy to remove the existing band, though I did notice it’s a little tough to get a band in place with this button.

Samsung confirmed that all of the bands using this new system will be backward compatible with previous Galaxy Watch models (Watch 4 and Watch 5), and you’ll see many of Samsung’s first-party bands make the switch to the new connector too as new variants are released.

A new band is also arriving this year, with a fabric band for Watch 6 that’s also backward compatible with Watch 4 and 5. This new band is designed for added comfort and has a velcro loop design to keep it in place securely. The band will be available in several colors, including blue, white, and purple.

I love this idea. Not sure how flimsy the stylus would end up being, but it's a clever way to include one in a slimmer and more compact device.
