Alioth phone

I have unlocked bootloader, flashed miui 14.0.7.0 (in setting it had still shown 14.09.0, but I read its a miui bug), flashed "additional partitions", lineage recovery, formatted storage, "successfully verified" boot.img using python and tried to install it with "adb sideload lineage-20.0-20230701-microG-alioth.zip". Progress percent goes up to 47% and stops. Lineage recovery asks "Signature verification failed Install anyway?". I click yes. Terminal on bottom of recovery writes 5 errors and "install completed with status 1" and in next line "installation aborted". When I click "reboot system now", recovery asks "WARNING: Previous installation has failed. Your device may fail to boot if you reboot now. Confirm reboot?". I click yes.

Phone shows poco and miui boot logos, plays boot sound and screen goes black. My pc (win10) detects phone and opens empty file of it in file explorer. When I press screen on/off button it plays sound of going to sleep mode. Nothing else. Then I press power and volume up button and it goes to back to lineage recovery.

How to fix this?

Dear MicroG

I have installed LOS4MG (18.1) on my S4.

I followed the LOS instructions here. https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/jfltexx/install

And the microG page here. https://lineage.microg.org/

Thus far everything seems good.

I clicked on F-Droid and downloaded the Aurora Store app onto my S4.

I note that this Aurora Store is v 4.2.3 but GitLab seems to indicate that v 4.2.5 has been released. https://gitlab.com/AuroraOSS/AuroraStore/-/releases

v 4.2.5 does not seem to be available on F-Droid.

Since downloading Aurora Store v 4.2.3 several days ago I have tried about a dozen times on different days to use it to install the Firefox app on my S4 without success.

I can't get the Aurora Store app to work.

I would be grateful for any help you could give me.

Yours sincerely ROMMMELLL

Dear MicroG

The instructions https://lineage.microg.org/ say

Before installing the ZIP you should check that it has the correct signature. You have to use a Python script to verify the signature, available here. Install Python 3 (if not already done) and the required packages (as explained in the README), then run:

python3 update_verifier.py lineageos4microg_pubkey lineage-microG.zip

I have no experience of verifying signatures.

I have no experience of python.

I think I have downloaded and installed Python 3 correctly.

I have downloaded the microG zip.

Could you talk me through the steps to check the signature please ?

In case it's important - I am using macOS 10.13

Yours sincerely ROMMMELLL

Since I updated my android to the newest available version I periodically get the green location warning because Déjà Vu is updating its records. Is there any way to hide this warning?

Dear MicroG

I want to install LineageOS for microG.

I have read the instructions very carefully.

They say I only need 2 files.

BUT the download page https://download.lineage.microg.org/jfltexx/
lists 8 files (NOT 2).

Is there anyone reading this who has actually installed
" LineageOS for microG " on a smartphone who could help me with ONE QUESTION please ?

Q1. Which 2 of these 8 files do I need to use to successfully install LineageOS for microG on my phone ?

In case it's important -

phone is Samsung Galaxy S4 GT - I9505 jfltexx,

with the latest stock Android 5.0.1

I am using a Mac with Mac os (not windows) and Heimdall (not Odin).

Yours sincerely ROMMMELLL

I'm glad microg set up shop here on Lemmy! Here's the first topic. The most recent release dumped unified nlm, and I want to know what that means for the future. I just found a new module, that works great, and now it is useless when I upgrade microg.

I searched everywhere, but there's no discussion about how to get features like locally built data points or downloading tower and WiFi databases.

Mozilla nlm requires internet, which I suppose is fine for most of the time, but when camping in the wilderness, is kinda useless.

Is there any news?

r/microG wiki moved to Gitlab (microg-fans.gitlab.io)

To save the wiki from reddit, I copied everything to Gitlab, and set up a Jekyll site for it: https://microg-fans.gitlab.io/wiki/

I think all internal links are working, that is the only thing I updated for now.

If you want to contribute, and update the wiki, please Request access to the Gitlab group Microg-fans on Gitlab: https://gitlab.com/microg-fans or just send your merge requests to the repo of the wiki: https://gitlab.com/microg-fans/wiki

All wiki pages are just markdown files, so you can edit them with your favorite markdown editor, or even with gitlab's builtin web editor. You can find them in the wiki directory: https://gitlab.com/microg-fans/wiki/-/tree/main/wiki
