Shota.house is my own little twitter-esc social media website. This won't really be of any real importance to most people. But some of my users also use Burggit, so this is an attempt to try and get ahold of them.

Anyway, tried to update the software and it ended up giving me various problems, way more than I was expecting. I hope to resolve it before too long, but I am also currently sick, which might sllow things down slightly.

Sorry for the downtime.

I wrote this userscript to make posting shota.nu media to this site easier.

Features

  • Copy direct URL to clipboard
  • Copy markdown image markup (![]()) to clipboard
  • Image preview on hover
  • Rearrange the uploads list (for the following features)
  • Produce markdown markup for the whole uploads list as an album
  • Produce the above markup in a centered table format
  • Pops out the site in a window, so you can have both sites visible
  • Remembers the expiry selection

New in v0.2!

  • Night mode
  • Expiry selection recall can be turned off
  • Auto-popout

How to install

Normally the browser extension would auto-install userscripts but that requires the filename to be *.user.js.

  1. Have a userscript browser extension (Tampermonkey/etc.) installed.
  2. Download script. Rename file to anything ending with .user.js e.g. helpfulcat.user.js
  3. Open the script with browser.

Alternative with Tampermonkey:

  1. Open Tampermonkey's dashboard
  2. Go to Utilities tab
  3. In Install from URL section, paste the link and press install.
  4. Confirm installation.

Upgrade notice

  • Please clear script's storage to have the new version work properly.

After losing their lemmy.fmhy.ml domain name, they're back at lemmy.fmhy.net. @Arisusanchez commented a few days about it in my old thread about them, but I missed it until just now.

I was wondering if there's a setting to stop blurring naughty posts: Whenever I browse a NSFW community, thumbnails in the list always get blurred, even on the post's own page! I have NSFW enabled in my settings... anything else that can be done to stop this annoyance?

Also when opening image posts I always need to click on an icon labeled "expand here" to actually see the full image. I'd really like for this to happen automatically! No obscure setting to solve that either?

Sadly, I think your account has no permission to access ex,
There is teaching on some forums, but I don't know how the exactly mechanism works either.
As I known Asia IP cannot get the permission.

Why was it never mentioned anywhere 😩

Quick lesson for those who aren't familiar with it. Baraag.net is a loli friendly instance over at Mastodon. Mastodon is basically to Twitter what Lemmy is to Reddit, a federalized social platform. And since it's federalized, Mastodon and Lemmy users and instances can interact with each other. Or at least they should be able to.

Usually, when you look up a Lemmy instance of Mastodon it looks like this:

Instead, when I try to look up anything hosted on burggit.moe it looks like this:

After messing around a with different accounts and instances I've noticed that the problem seems to only come up with Burggit. While Baraag has defederalized from a couple of instances, we aren't on that list. Nor did we defederalize them, as they are even listed under Linked Instances:

I've also tied to look up my own Lemmy accounts through Mastodon and it doesn't find me:

All in all there seems to be some connection issues and if anyone knows anything about it please share!

Completely unrelated Edit: It feels a lot easier to make posts that contain images on Lemmy, compared to Reddit

FMHY is down for now, though hopefully not permanently. They were the only large instance that hadn't defederated us.

This has gotten on my nerves a ton as of recent. Trying to search your watch history on YouTube is absolutely fucking infuriating. You can type in like 90% of a video title verbatim, and YouTube will have no idea what you want, but show the same video when you type some random word from the title? I mean fucking seriously? I was looking for a specific video about the history of smash bros, and I shit you not, searching "super smash bros" turned up more than twice the amount of results as searching just "smash"? I mean fucking what? Surely every video that matches the first search would, by definition, also meet the second in any sane universe, no? It's even worse when you realize that YouTube already has a search capable of looking through the much larger dataset of all the videos when you just search on the site, and Google has an actual fucking search engine, but searching in your watch history is like trying to get directions from a drunken amnesiac? And to top it all off, I can't even find the video I want because YouTube ruined the actual fucking search by polluting it with literally and intentionally irrelevant garbage after like 4 results

I haven't actually pirated stuff for gamecube in ages, and all the places I already trust either don't have them because technically not gamecube, or have since shut down. Wondering if anyone here knows where I can get clean dumps to process and use with nintendont

There's a JavaScript injection exploit going on. Apparently the exploit also works on comments, just by embedding an image and adding some JS code in it. I don't know if this could steal the entire cookies or just the website's, but just to be safe don't randomly click every link.

The post below is copy pasted from https://kbin.social/m/android@lemdro.id/t/168524/Lemmy-world-and-another-instance-have-been-compromised#entry-comment-661712

Some information I have posted to Lemmy.World:

I am not a super code-literate person so bare with me on this… But. Still please becareful. There appears to be a vulnerability.

Users are posting images like the following:

imgur.com/a/RS4iAeI

And inside hidden is JavaScript code that when executed can take cookie information and send it to a URL address.

Among other things. At this time if you see an image please click the icon circled before clicking the link. DO NOT CLICK THE IMAGE. If you see anything suspicious, please report it immediately. It is better a false report than a missed one.

I have seen multiple posts by these people during the attack. It is most certainly related to JS.

Originally this post was me saying "oh, they refederated us." They didn't, they got hacked, lol. We've temporarily defederated with lemmy.world on our end (not that they federated with us anyway) until they get their shit back.

This is my old account that I just logged in today. Just joined a server and Discord asked for email verification. Okay, that's not hard, thankfully Discord doesn't restrict email to only big providers. But then suddenly DIscord asked to verify by phone number, because "something is out of ordinary". What's out of ordinary from that??? Joining a server > Discord asks to verify > I verify.

I was losing my mind seeing people suggesting moving to Discord when Rexxit happened. Like WTF, it's even worse than Reddit. Non-indexable content, worse privacy, needing account just to access the said content, etc.

I really hate how services nowadays require your phone number just to use their service. Unfortunately most people just don't care of privacy, thanks to "I have nothing to hide" mindset.

Another one down. Looks like their admin isn't actively hostile to us, they're just in a hostile jurisdiction:

I’m sure this will come as a disappointment to many of you as you have joined this instance specifically because we do not block or defederate with anybody. Unfortunately my hand is forced on this occasion.

As many of you know this server is hosted in Ireland. It has been brought to my attention that under Irish law:

Virtual child pornography is illegal in Ireland per the Child Trafficking and Pornography Act of 1998 which includes “any visual representation”.[Irish Statute Book] The country has strict laws when it comes to child abuse material, even if it doesn’t contain any “real children”.

As you can understand this requires me to defederate and remove the offending material from my server. There are newer admin tools in the works which will allow me to block specific communities instead of whole servers. Once this is in place I will refederate with burggit and block the individual offending communities.

This will also apply to other servers with offending content but as far as I’m aware burggit is the only one for the moment.

I still maintain my ideal of not defederating as much as possible but sometimes its out of my hands.

Thanks to everyone for helping create this vibrant community and for supporting. I am dedicated to make VLemmy the best it can be.

In my opinion, this is really good news, but wasn't sure if it really fit into the good news community, so I'm putting it here.

Feel like you have something to post, but it's not really relevant to any of the current communities, and you don't feel like it's worth making an entirely new community just to post it? This is the place for that.

NSFW content is allowed in this community so long as you mark it as per site rules.
