I'm just sharing here this app I use always on my phone, and I don't see many people talking about it.

It's similar to DuckDuckGo app feature that block trackers across all the device, but this one is focused only on that, it also allows you to add your custom tracker URLs to block and monitor every request being made.

It's open source and available on F-Droid: https://f-droid.org/packages/dev.clombardo.dnsnet/
GitHub: https://github.com/t895/DNSNet

It enables a VPN to intercept requests, so it can block URLs of trackers across all your apps. The app provides a list of URLs as you open it for the first time, you can choose a few options between less or more aggressive.

Obs.: The app don't tell, but when you add a custom URL you need to disable and enable it again.

Is there a feature you've recently discovered in an app available on F-Droid that might not be obvious to casual users of the app? This is your chance to share it!

I found this post quite interesting. While i already knew a few things its interesting to get a look at how scummy these companies behave at public events hosted by the European Comission.

This app is a small jewel:

  • offline translation thanks to firefox translation engine
  • OCR on images with tessercat
  • overlay of translated text on the original image -> awesome!

It's still a young app, but it's really important to go towards de-googling!

I learnt about markdown from reddit and got to know more suff like ![img]() after joining Lemmy. Found Markor from a thread here or there.
Recently learnt about some features:

And a cool thing is that it supports rendering .html files(considering how Firefox doesn't show up in the list of apps capable of opening them). Was trying out Javascript bookmarklets and created an html file(with the js code in it) to make edits and try out stuff.

Making this post so that others can know of these features. I had Markor installed for more than a year, before I recently read their news.md and noticed these features.

Do you know of any other features or apps that'd be useful for more people to know of?

It says that certificate on the website has expired, and returns an error. Apparently they're aware and working on the fix - https://floss.social/@fdroidorg/115122499080903353

In April, we published a piece outlining some of the work underway to help strengthen the F-Droid project against unjust intrusion, interception and monitoring. We shared how contributors, maintainers, and developers in the free software world are increasingly navigating takedown demands, vague or impractical regulations, and aggressive enforcement actions and how we, as a community, need better tools and strategies to face these challenges.
