For the past few weeks, it’s been a nearly everyday ask from ERCOT and relayed via AE.

Does anybody know if these voluntary energy reductions have any impact? The TX grid is managed so horribly. Fuck PUC.

I did not know about the giant drainage tunnels. Also a map of noise reduction walls.

All well and good when fighting crime maybe, but there aren't restrictions on selling that data to other entities. Where your cars go, when, and how fast, although newer cars report all that back anyway (see the Toyota breach recently).

Yes yes yes, I know how much everyone loves H‑E‑B. Just wanted to warn you if you’re an occasional Randall’s shopper — check the expiration dates on merchandise before purchasing. I’ve come across expired milk, yogurt, and eggs on shelves at two locations in the past couple of weeks. Some were expired by two weeks or more.

Strange happenings afoot

No falcons though. Tower Girl is long gone. The camera just focuses on campus areas of interest, and someone occasionally moves it.

Thirsty Planet Brewing Co. is closing its taproom and suspending distribution.

That is gonna be pricey, it is cracked top to bottom.

Gourmands, rejoice! The Austin Food & Wine Festival will return for its 12th year, transforming Auditorium Shores into a bright spectacle of food, wine, and assorted spirits in the (hallelujah!) much cooler days coming our way this fall: Sat.-Sun., Nov. 4-5.

The 33rd Annual Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival Presented by Capital Metro returns to The Far Out Lounge and Stage on Sunday, September 10, from 3-9 p.m.

I went a few years ago and even in the dead of summer it was still a lot of fun. Anyone going this year?

The Hole In The Wall music venue has secured a 20-year lease and will remain open to celebrate its 50th anniversary next summer, thanks largely to $1.6 million in assistance from the city’s Iconic Venue Fund.

Will Tanner, who purchased the club located on the stretch of Guadalupe Street known as The Drag in 2008, signed the new lease agreement – an initial 10-year lease with two five-year extensions – with The Weitzman Group realty firm on Monday. The signing followed 10 months of negotiation and work with staff from the city and the Austin Economic Development Corporation to become the first recipient of city funds allocated to preserve culturally significant music venues.

The facility will have two medical towers, one for the cancer center and the other for the new university hospital. It will be located at the current downtown location of UT-Austin’s Frank Erwin Center, formerly a multipurpose facility.

The cancer center will have 150 inpatient beds for treatment, 230 outpatient exam rooms and will include many of the same features as the MD Anderson hospital in Houston, including bone marrow transplantation and multiteam surgery.

Not thrilled they are talking about getting rid of the neon sign.

I'm going to be visiting Austin and was wondering about tickets to the Austin City Limits Festival. I would like to go to the second Saturday but the only option currently is to join the wait-list or buy overpriced tickets on the secondary market. Does the waitlist actually ever open up? Do tickets on the secondary market become more reasonable as the show date gets closer? Can't wait to visit your city!
