I have just received an email which notifies of the official opening of your party. It comes with a new YouTube channel and video with Jeremy Corbyn which appears to confirm everyone is on the same page again.

Introduction Video | Jeremy Corbyn

He clarifies "Our role is not to control [the party]", saying that after the first conference they will rightfully hand over control to the elected leaders.

Zarah Sultana posted on twitter showing support for the people led movement. It's unclear how this will progress, but it's good to see consolidation instead of fragmentation.

According to this report there is another movement growing, seeking to take over leadership of your party from the MP's. The general gist is that they believe that a true grassroots movement should be community organised, not headed by powerful leaders.

I am dubious of the wisdom in this move, because it seems that it may disperse the swell of power building behind the party by tying it up in further committees, votes, and assignment of duty that has already been delaying the establishment. But I guess when the chaos struck, everyone saw it as an opportunity to reform the party in their own image, and maybe it truly will be the path to a class led movement.

What do you think?

Your party just sent out an email updating everyone yesterday, the main points are below.

Timeline at a glance:

  • September: Membership opens, first draft documents published and regional assemblies start.
  • October: Assemblies continue, draft documents revised, online vote on party name.
  • November: Delegates selected, amendments submitted, founding conference takes place.

Talks about rallying the left against Nigel Farage and coalition building without compromising on values.

The activist group rs21 is running a couple events discussing the direction of the party in London (14/09) and Manchester (27/09) this month. Might be a good way to get to know your local Your Party members!

For those who aren't familiar with rs21 they describe themselves as:

Revolutionary Socialism in the 21st Century (rs21) is an ecosocialist, feminist, anti-racist and anti-imperialist organisation based in Britain.

The Labour Party could have made the case for a humane immigration system that treats refugees with dignity. Instead it has fanned the flames of racism and emboldened the far right.

I don't know if there is an official campaign as the title says, but exciting stuff!
