You know security wouldn't be such an issue if windows wasn't literal malware. But, you know, that'd hurt their paychecks

Same thing with google, they'd have much better security if all their products weren't designed to be malware infested

I hate it when someone tells a joke that quite literally just amounts to "I think its funny to be mean to minorities or historically (or currently) oppressed groups haha look how edgy I am"

Like no that's not funny you're just making yourself look stupid

Thank you to the people who gave recommendations, I'll add them to my list and get around to reading them eventually :)

I simply enjoy mythology and want to read something that hasn't been filled with the biases of the translators. Modern christians actually believe a lot of things that are wildly different from what they used to mean. If I believed Christianity was real, Lucifer would absolutely love modern christians.

As other people have informed me, the bible is really just not easy to translate like that. It's just an amalgamation of so many different things. While possible, it doesnt seem feasible.

I'll go learn more about the native americans instead as they have some very diverse beliefs and cool myths. I dont know much about them yet, so its a good option

That sucks. Thanks for the informative answer though. By "accurate" I really just meant preserving the original message as closely as possible. Oh well

Looking at other comments also, it seems the bible is just an alamgamation of a lot of different texts

I'm looking for something similar to how Emily Wilson translated the Odyssey, ignoring societal biases and creating something as close as possible to what Homer intended

Specifically, I want something that doesn't misrepresent the original writing, for example how things about children were changed to be about homosexuality, and how the word "virgin" is nowhere near what the original texts said

Almost. Tinnitus is constant ear ringing. Like a high pitched, constant noise. It does vary in intensity in people who have it though and is not always noticeable. (I don't have tinnitus, so may not be 100% accurate)

When your brain can't filter out sounds, that is one of the side effects of audio processing disorder. Probably a lot of other things that cause it too. Audio processing disorder is exactly what it sounds like. You can hear, but its hard to understand. Can't filter sounds (you hear all sounds at their actual volume). Sometimes causes people to think I am hearing impaired. Frequently causes me to mishear things as completely different, unrelated sounds. Many people also have difficulty determining which direction noises come from, although I haven't personally experienced this

I signed up on computer, using jerboa on my phone to access Lemmy. The app seems nice :)

Unfortunately the captcha is unreasonably difficult. It took me a very long time and I had to refresh it 8-10 times (it only plays the audio one time?). Admittedly it is partially due to me having audio and visual processing issues, but even if my brain functioned perfectly I imagine it would still be difficult?
