Actually good points. See, this is why i need to put myself out there more.

ty for the detailed response! I really like Nunito out of these, I think you're right about the rounded fonts.

The font there is called Space Mono, but I don't know anything about fonts 😭

Thanks for the very interesting study. It's still very new to me as well to see the drawbacks, but feedback so far has been positive. And for the well wishes! Same to you. :)

Also, asking non-rhetorically, if I keep redesigning my game's aesthetic, does it mean i have early onset schizophrenia? I really hope this is my last "new vision", but probably won't be.

I don't know what else to say rn, I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend.

yep it works for me as well. The photo could have been taken from my hometown honestly. I wish there was some movement to rebuild them all. Congrats on this achievement, from a fellow East Euro dev.

I genuinely LOVE it! I've had Mint twice, but I always had minor issues that added up with time. No such issues persist on Zorin (knock on wood).

I remember when I first joined Reddit, there were clear rules everywhere stating that the downvote button is not a disagree button, but is the comment on-topic button. And it was a much better space back then too. Then the epstein pedos took over to control the narrative, and the rest is history.

I'm installing Zorin OS for my 70+ mother and nobody will stop me.

What and absolutely gorgeous website and assets! I may indeed take inspiration from these.

This is an awesome idea. And then the lightning symbol when it's charging. Thanks.

[–] purple_mimosa@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I have some vague concepts of an idea, but they seem to change every once in a while. I'd like a modern vaporwave rusty industrial pastel fabric 80s lighting look.

Yeah. I know.

In my nation-building game Country Architect, worker teams roam the map building infrastructure, transporting resources, and defending territory. Each team has different states (idle/working/drafted/charging) and can be equipped with multiple specialized vehicles. (Eg. One team could have several excavators, and a few drones to help defend itself).

I need to decide: Should teams be represented as emoji blobs or a construction vehicle?

  1. Emoji blobs show team state at a glance (happy/working/alert)
  2. Construction vehicle feels more professional but less expressive

I'd love some input. Which would you prefer in a game like this?

EDIT6: Due to Steam needing an email from me so that I could get a new link, I decided it's not worth the hassle to change its name (Keeping the name polled high anyway).

EDIT5: yolo, Infrastruction it is.

Thank you @MurrayL@lemmy.world and everyone.

Thank you for all the ideas! Shoutout to "pussy eaters republic".

EDIT: added non-twitter poll link

Since my game is not (only) about villages, but building up an entire nation, I thought of changing the title to make it more appropriate.

"Nation Architect" and "Sovereign Architect" and "Sovereign Roads" are the other ideas.

Game concept: You play as a country leader, tasked with building up a country (either immortal president, or some form of AI). You will need to plan roads and factories, then launch bidding process to see your blueprints get built. You will manage "teams", which are generated by towns at certain milestones, specialize them and buy them vehicles. Eventually, relations with other countries will come into play as well.

A single badly-planned highway bridge is enough to bankrupt you, like irl for weaker economies.
