Personally the qualities listed of this person who had "good soft skills" aren't good soft skills. People pleasing isn't a soft skill, is just being soft.

Communication and collaboration often necesitate conflict, and conflict isn't bad. Conflixt is often the stimulus for gorwth. Someone with good soft skills knows how to have "positive conflicts" and can be assistive with ideas and limitations.

I don't disagree with the assessment that most people's self assessment of soft skills means they are passivr people pleasers rather than compassionate assertive listeners and problem solvers.

Not currently but I think I can track one down.

I'm not sure when or how, but one day when I plugged my monitor back into the graphics port my BIOS screen looked like this.

Everything is fine when I boot into the OS.

I read that updating the BIOS could fix this, but to no avail.

Not sure what info would be relevant here but here are some basics:

  • ROG Strix 760-I Gaming Wifi running Version 1825 BIOS
  • Nvidia 4080
  • Kubuntu
  • Odessey G9 Ultrawide

EDIT - SOLUTION

Turns out the monitor was using display Port Version 1.4; when I switched this to v1.2 everything went back to normal

**EDIT - Thanks! **

I wanted to say thanks to everyone who put eyes on this and offered testing ideas, I'm glad I was able to stumbled to a solution that was prompoted by some of the ideas in here (even though the solution may not seem connected initially to anything stated).

bitwig is great, it is my favorite DAW that I've used (Logic and Ableton were previously used by me).

I really enjoy the flexibility and creativity I get with the grid.

I'll give it distrobox a shot. On the main box using Garuda I've been trying the dragonized version and had a lot of "odd" graphical issues with the DE.

these weren't present when I was using plasma with Debian ( which only was smooth once I switched it to be used by the GPU as well). This is another reason why I've been considering the switch.

I've done a fair bit of tinkering so I'm sure I can get it to work.

Neat!

I've been running Garuda on my main rig for a minute. I thought all would be good but some of my music production stuff has been a bit slow to catch up as far as updates in the AUR vs the official .deb releases (and I haven't tinkered enough to just make that work myself).

Being able to install .deb otb seems nice; I was planning on running a new framework 12 laptop on it (which I dream of getting for a new performance rig for my music) but I may install it on my current performance rig to see how it runs.

How well does it play with nvidia? If it's all good and I eventually switch on my main rig I'd love to be able to run a local GPU supported AI. I know that for nvidia I have to have drivers that support cuda stuff.
