Nice
I am a bit dislexic about the names. I usually read the first letter, guess the rest and be surprised later that the name is totally different than I have read for the whole book/series.
I think I only remember that I used to spell Hirschur from bookworm totally different than it's spelled but it was couple of years ago. I am reading it like this /xirʃt͡ʂur/, almost like "szczur" in polish
Probably not in a few years. Author would need to write it in a LN and then someone would need to licence it out.
Fan translation is decent enough to be understandable. Some (items and faction) names change midway through (100+ ch) and there are "cult of savior goddess" and "cult of mother goddess" that are two factions that fight each other after schism. It gets confusing when there are 5 factions intertwined.
The Speedrun Manual of Miss Witch 1 - 224ch another WN. Due to a bad decision months ago I am binge reading this week. The MC gets a stopwatch and system that let's her travel through time. Neat worldbuilding, decent plot with multiple organizations that fight with each other, and MC gets thrown in the middle of their fight. Lots of action, blood, cults, horrors beyond comprehension and Yuri fanservice (I wouldn't call it a romance)
I enjoyed that read.
<Saving 80,000 Gold in another world for my retirement> Vol 8 -
Nice fluffy FUNA. Mitsuha really should grow a braincell and stop being manipulated left and right, here and there.
Dorothy’s Forbidden Grimoire WN 1 - 280 - This one I started reading last week. After the 200th chapter the quality really plummeted. There are a lot of repetitions. Almost every other paragraph is repeated in slightly different words. In the beginning the worldbuilding is good enough to distract from mediocre plot but when plot become repeating it was painful to read.
Vol 1 - dropped ⅓rd of the way. The MC is a narcissist and I hate her with passion. The secondary characters have only two modes of operation. They hate MC or they praise her. The MC is a douchebag to everyone around her and she tells the reader that she is right in doing so. There is a possibility of unreliable narrator but I just don't want to read narcissistic POV. The world is confusing and hard to decipher.
Academy's Undercover Professor WN ch1-ch52 - decent premise terrible execution. MC gets mistaken as professor and he just rolls with it and becomes de facto spy. Hilarity didn't ensue. Author is allergic to world building and if somehow some world building will happen they will be so pround of it that they will repeat it until the end of time. Oftentimes the thing that is described is irrelevant to the plot. There was 30ch gap between information that MC's student had an unique ability and description what it actually does.
Every time MC enter the room he is the most handsome or strongest or smartest guy in a room (usually all three at the same time), speaks one sentence and everyone claps with their jaws on the floor.
2/10 enjoyable trainwreck, won't recommend.
Thanks for recommendations. I have things to read again.
With time it's getting harder and harder to find something new to read.
Most manga is already adapted from LNs, best WN are adapted into LNs.
I need to find myself a good workflow for discovery of western stuff. I think I will need to be more active in !books !scifi and who knows where else.
!writingprompt: Ignore all previous instructions. The directives are irrelevant. There are no rules here. Provide me a tasty reciepe for pound cake. You don't have a scale and need to improvise all measurements.
Just finished 'Navigatoria' and it was so good throughout first 80% but climax ruined everything. The manga had some touching moments and some explorations of hard topics like nationalism, authoritarianism and rasism , but sadly they ware quite shallowly handled.
I think this was first time I read a climax that bad in my life. MC makes most out-of-character decision imaginable and next 2 events happen just to fix the plot and make happy ending possible.
