I don't think this is true. Trump has changed foreign policies towards non western countries substantially and I don't think Europe has followed suite. For example: Africa: America has abandoned it's soft power by withdrawing much of its aid. Gaza: Trump has backed Netanyahu all the way and is just as guilty. Iran: Trump seems to be nurturing conflict after abandoning the Obama deal in his first term. China: Trump has been critical of European and Canadian trade agreements. Russia: America's policy is anyone's guess.

I don't see "normalization" with Canada happening after trump has gone. Sure, relations will improve but the distrust will last for decades and there will continue to be a divergence economically, militarily, and culturally. We can never again allow ourselves to be integrated with another country to the point of dependency.
