Actually no. When socialism collapsed we finally were free to do whatever we want. We started our own businesses with our own values that we individually believed in. We were free, at last.

Those on the other hand, who needed socialist forced factory work in order to do something, became total bums and these are the big crybabies who say that ussr took care of them. We have always encouraged them to move to their mother russia, but there you see, it's much harder to be a bum. So they stay, do nothing and cry about 'good old times'

These women, if they were educated in medicine or science could continue their careers if they were capable. The choice now was in their own hands. And to be fair, I have never ever heard that post soviet collapse sex work grew in my country.
