WhatsApp and Messenger Interoperability (europe.pub)
 

WhatsApp is rolling out its interoperability features. There are three providers that are actually interoperable in the EU today: BirdyChat, Haiket, and Arnacon. None of them offers group chats with WhatsApp contacts as of now, which is a major obstacle for adoption, but at least there is something happening.

However, under DMA, Messenger is required to do the same. And yet there is nothing. Is there any reason no one is trying to launch a Messenger interoperable app? Lack of monetization incentives? More technical obstacles than with WhatsApp?

  1. Dislike Proton and Mullvad for political reasons, but I understand they provide good services.
  2. I also dislike Firefox-forks. Not because they are bad, but the only reason to use Firefox is to avoid Chromium. However, if you don't use Firefox, usage statistics go down, ad-revenue goes down, and Mozilla will struggle to maintain Gecko. If Gecko goes down, so will LibreWolf and Waterfox.
  3. I don't use many of these services (I keep photos local, use my bank's payment app etc.) but some recommendations are very interesting. I still stick to an Android phone and wonder how reliable /e/OS really is.

I disagree, I love DS3, but I can respect this line of criticism. However, I cannot understand how anyone can criticize DS3's bosses for the lack of readability, while praising ER. For me, ER bosses just take the worst aspects of DS3 ones and pump them up. For half of the bosses there is a complicated pattern of random movements, which makes the game a boring slog as you need to memorise them... unless you use summons that make the game trivial.
