It is not the matter of what if you are found. It's the matter of when.

Some people suggest the idea of a multiverse with each universe having a unique set of laws of physics governing it, but not many delve deeper into this. I was wondering if it was even possible to imagine a universe that is different to ours in this regard.

The universe could share some of the laws from our universe yet still be different enough that it is not a matter of just tweaking a few digits of the gravitational constant or the speed of light. Also the universe with those set of laws should be able to sustain itself through the same period as our universe has been so far, meaning it shouldn't implode or instantaneously cease to exist the moment it is born.

Is it even possible to imagine this? If not, is this due to us having become so accustomed to the logic of our universe that we cannot come up with any such idea that does not exist here, or is it just that our universe happens to be the only possible one to exist, at least while maintaining the harmony between each law of physics and avoiding any paradoxes to occur?

To someone who is subscribed to multiple communities on Reddit, has there been any change in their feed in their quality or amount of posts since July 1st? Any change in the amount of comments in the posts? Even the number of community subscribers?

I want to see how Reddit is doing without going back to their site to check. I know other people might still be seeing Reddit, so I wish to hear directly from them.

I am in need for stories in form of movies, shows or games where an extremely large entity or organization exists, a force not to be reckoned with. A system which you cannot defeat, which you have to outsmart and escape instead. A system whose scale cannot be comprehended.

Examples coming into my mind are:

  1. the Portal franchise, with the Aperture Science Lab spanning miles filled with unlimited test chambers and test objects
  2. the Subnautica series, with the highly advanced precursor structures and technologies
  3. the Star Wars franchise, with the imperials having fleets of battleships and control over multiple colonies (i am not well versed with this franchise)
  4. the John Wick series, with the existence of the High Table and the powers of the Continentals (tho not science fiction)

  1. Pause to screen: You can put the entire world on pause at will, but your body will also freeze along with others, with only your mind remaining active to think and resume back time.

  2. Respawn on death: Upon dying against your will, you will be presented with an option of respawning back to your bed or any familiar safespace, and an option to confirm your death.

  3. Rapid health regeneration: Your body will quickly heal after sudden injury to full health when left undamaged for a minute.

  4. Built in HUD: You will be able to view your body's stats directly within your vision, like meters/numbers for any type of body metric, your inventory, a minimap and reminders/alerts.

  5. Skill Tree: You level up on your birthdays and acquire a skill point to spend on various types of stats and powers of your choice.

  6. Fast travel: You can instantly teleport to your personally known safe places, no matter how far away they are, except in situations where you are busy and not allowed to leave the vicinity. (By courtesy of ChrisFhey)

  7. Skill Check: While doing an action, you will be able to observe if you have the necessary stats required to perform that action successfully. (By courtesy of nieceandtows)

Note: Save/Load has been intentionally left out since it is essentially more OP than all of the other options listed here.

Edit: changed title from 'superpower' to 'game feature' + misspellings + 6th and 7th point

Are there websites where I can do simple tasks like distinguishing/sorting images, writing captions, selecting correct options or other tasks I can do in my free time or mindlessly whilst also contributing to meaningful projects? Something like Google Crowdsource, although I would like to avoid registering to any privacy invading services asking for my personal info in order to contribute.

With ever the constant updates to popular and important apps and websites, how do the developers ensure the update preserves the user and site's original database, considering the possibility that the updates might contain data-corruptive bugs or exploits for users?

This question is not addressing the frequent database leaks, since they only involve release of read only data and exploits only exist in the form of accessing user accounts and data, not altering the site's database at large itself.

Even if there is a backup for the database, undoing changes that affect millions or people negatively would create a ton of uproar, especially if the site is based on real time interactions, like stock broker apps, social media apps and instant messengers. However I have personally never heard of such incidents.

Do companies at such large scales have extreme QA in place, depend on user feedback and reporting, or just have been lucky they haven't been exploited yet? Or am I completely wrong and these incidents do occur?

Keep in mind that I am an amateur in this domain. I have worked with MySQL databases for educational purposes and personal projects but I found the state of databases very fragile, like the ability to nuke the entire database with just 2-3 words. This fact made me come up with this question.
