I see all too often people pushing cameras in others’ faces and insisting on pictures, especially for social media. Uncle Sam is watching. At a protest, a woman and I had to chase a particularly aggressive photographer off to keep her from taking pictures of her preteen granddaughter. Remember that there is a very real chance that not only will it be used to identify dissidents, right-wing chuds can easily make realistic, usually pornographic, AI deepfakes of anyone whose likeness they can get their dorito-encrusted mitts on. Take special care to cover the identities of women and children, as they are most vulnerable to attacks from nasty men. Before you post it to social media, make sure everyone’s face (unless they gave you express permission to post their likeness) is censored. Just because you’ve accepted that you’ll be on a list does not mean you have the right to take others down with you. Not wearing a mask to a protest or event ≠ permission to be posted.
