I try to do this. Which is exactly why I don't generally get exposed to content I don't want to see directly. And I can't always just follow the carefully curated list because you know... I need to find people/communities to put on the carefully curated list. Even on Lemmy, I try to block users and communities that post content I don't care for, but it's always worming it's way through one way or another.
