Fun fact. Never sold in France, they had to rebrand it, as MR2 phonetically, says "shit" in french.

the MK1 is nice and wedge shaped but the more curvy MK2 that resembles the celica and supra is a great car to drive.

Hell yeah those are rad. I used to win a lot on Gran Turismo by getting a used MR2 turbo and adding lots of upgrades. The power-to-weight ratio combined with its amazing handling was like a cheat code.

Imagine converting one of those to electric RWD - if there were enough room to fit batteries its low weight should make it highly efficient.
