I have like seven bazillion, it's fine,
I just do it because I come up with different username bits I think are funnier than my current one. My opsecs shit so like everyone who spends too much time on this site can probably track between my different accounts but it's enough for me that weird federated stalkers can't work out which else are mine
This account of mine is an alt-turned-main since my first primary account was on lemmy.ml but I spent all my time here anyway. But I like this username better so I stuck with this account instead.
I think just yesterday made a backup alt on Lemmygrad with the same name as this account, just in case. I even told them it was just a backup of the same name. No issue.

Why not? Don't think there's a rule forbidding it heavily (only for ban evasion, from what other users said)
There are only two users on this site: you and me, and everyone else is an alt.
