Why do I see top-level comments that look like replies to other comments? (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

Sometimes I see top-level comments on a post that, from their content, appear to be replying to other comments within the post. Is there some bug that makes them appear as top-level comments rather than replies to the comment they're responding to? Or are people just bad at replying to the correct comment? I never see this on reddit so I'm confused why I'm seeing so many cases of it on lemmy.

Probably people replying to the post by accident, do you have an example?

I second that. It'd be cool to have a screenshot or URL to a comment.
