I think it's more interesting that according to Pew Research we still haven't recovered to 2018 levels. The CIA worked real hard on this one.

Linked within was this article which was also interesting, though older: What different survey modes and question types can tell us about Americans’ views of China - Pew Research Center

also this wasn't supposed to be a crosspost im bad at this game

All the Wuhan lab leak propaganda around covid really melted a lot of people's brains

Omg I forgot about that I was thinking it was a little late for the uyghur genocide stories! I usually tie those to 2019 or so. I doubt they helped though.

Also all the stories about people being literally welded inside their apartments and shit (something we unironically should have done to stop all the churches boomers from having their Nurgle parties).

Also AFAIK if you post a link identical to one posted to a federated comm it automatically provides the crossword link.

That sounds about right. All of those wonderful classics like "ghost cities, social credit scores, Uyghur genocide, but at what cost, etc." were all heavily pushed simultaneously and constantly during 2014-2020. It was a prime example of how effective and relentless their consent manufacturing machine is when they've decided that you've become a threat to the empire's interests. By the time the second HK color revolution happened, it was easy to get the public on board. Unfortunately for them, it didn't work.

In hindsight, I think the real impetus for this was the "Pivot to Asia" policy which was developing through the second half of the Obama years, ultimately leading up the failed TPP initiative. After that fell through and Trump entered the White House, the laser focus on China was diffused by the Trump administration starting petty bullshit with all of the US's Western allies, throwing a united Western front against China into doubt during those crucial years.

They haven't been running nearly as much anti-China recently stuff I think. Plus with Trump in office all the anti-China stuff is clearly being spread by the biggest loser scumbags which doesn't help its effectiveness. Plus we're on anti-Iran stuff right now. They can switch back to anti-China stuff when needed.

Yeah the libs, reactionary as they are won't eat up the anti-china stuff as much when the other team is doing because... well that is part of the reactionary mind.
