Fucking joke, just 'we don't want to increase cost of living'.. That's it?
Plastic recycling has already been shown to be a joke, RedCycle lasted for hot minute before it collapsed under the volume of clean, post-consumer plastic sent their way when they couldn't find anyone who wanted to use it. The only solution is to cut out as much single-use plastic as possible with regulation.
We got by just fine with consumer goods before plastic.. There's very little reason we can't return, except industry pressure. Keeping the costs down for McDonald's and Coke and Unilever (etc) to the order of a few cents per package just so they can externalise the cost to us.. With microplastics affecting our health and microplastics polluting the environment. Dim choice.
