City pegged removal at $48M, province rejected figure

Awesome. That's not a lot of money but it's complete waste. I know a few folks who would be ecstatic. I can't wait for them to see no improvement whatsoever in their local traffic.

Complete waste indeed. Nothing worthwhile that could be spent on instead 🙄 I wonder if Ford understands what an opportunity cost is. Actually, I don’t wonder. I’m quite sure he has no idea.

There’s also all this discussion about who will pay for this nonsense. Will it be the city or the province? The real answer is taxpayers.

I really hope we have decent data on traffic since the bike lanes were put in so that we can see whether removing them helps. Induced demand strongly suggests it will not help but the fact that Ford is doing this in the first place demonstrates that he is not influenced by evidence or science in general.

We've got great data showing that they help, as well as accounts by emergency vehicles reinforcing that.

But as you've said, the Ford gvmnt doesn't care about evidence. They just do whatever they want.
