I see a lot of "whats your favorite books" but not "whats your favorite book covers"? I want to see books that have TERRIBLE story but you bought just because the cover was amazing. Or you just liked them.

I haven't bought them because fuck JK rowling, but I think the covers on the lithuanian edition of harry potter books are really pretty :3

I've always loved the cover of The Resurrectionist

Somewhat furry adjacent, but I think the covers the Noss books are gorgeously illustrated. The second book in particular, which I'm hoping to read this year, is a favourite of mine:

I've met the artist and she's lovely!

My favorite series "The Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica" is both written and illustrated by James Owen, who is super talented at both. The whole series has amazing art, especially for the covers

I bought this one entirely because of its cover. Turned out to be a solid read. I've now read three of his and look forward to snagging another.

The entire Dune series covers are absolutely fantastic

Quite a shame they recently added a big fat "Now a major motion picture!" on the newest edition. Not even a sticker, directly in the print.

I could contribute a lot to the opposite question. I'm horrified how stupidly dumb the covers of many, esp. SciFi and Fantasy, books I read are.

If I actually went out to buy books (thankfully we have a library system and I mostly choose by recommendation), these covers would actively keep me from buying them.

As it stands, I'm really glad to own this book, both for its content & its look:

Generally, the books I read have pretty uninteresting covers (well, at least to me). Recently, it's been mostly military history, political science, or economics, and those tend to have either nothing but a title on a single-color background or maybe some public-domain photograph slapped on the front for the military history stuff.

I have an art book or two, but that seems kind of like cheating. In terms of regular books...hmm.

I'd guess that the best ones are probably from fantasy books, and I haven't read much fantasy for quite a while.

tries to think though all of the fantasy books for one I liked

Well, going way back, the original Dragon of the Lost Sea cover. The hardback edition had a kinda Chinese ink painting-style image that spanned both the front and back. There was a later reprint that had cover art that I really disliked.

Not saying that I disliked the book, just that I liked the cover.
