I don't think house racing will be banned in our lifetime. There's to much money involved.
Remember when NSW tried to ban dog racing? It got overturned within a few weeks, which was months before it was going to even come into affect.
There's way more money being moved with horses, if they couldn't stop dogs in a single state there's no chance to stop horses anytime soon.
I hate to agree.. Also, we full of too many dickheads here who want to be portrayed as badass. Even absolutely stupid things like mental checks for gun owners, a lot of our local bogans lose their minds
If you are against dog fighting, you should be against racing too. It's animals getting injured for human enjoyment.

Anytime an animal is tied to monteary gain than the animals wellbeing becomes a distant second. My heart can't take really deep diving in to all the ins and outs agian, so I am just gonna give you some quotes and links.
There are good reasons it is banned in most countries.
According to GRI’s own figures, 197 greyhounds died as a result of racing in 2025, with hundreds more suffering serious injuries. The year prior, 202 greyhounds died on the track or shortly after.
This, in addition to the countless greyhounds suffering cruelty behind the scenes, with dogs often kept under deplorable conditions, such as those seen in Parteen, and subjected to abusive breeding and training practices.
One particularly shocking feature of this industry is the practice of surgical artificial insemination, which is banned for all other breeds of dogs due to clear ethical and welfare concerns. It is an absolutely barbaric practice in which a dog is cut open, artificially impregnated, sewn back up, and then expected to carry its pups to term while simultaneously recovering from this surgery.

The HSUS suggests between 2008 and 2018, 15,273 race dogs suffered routinely documented injuries. The most common injury is broken legs.
In West Virginia, at two separate tracks, in the same ten-year span, 8159 dog injuries occurred. At least 398 dogs died in West Virginia or were euthanized.
In Arkansas, 1148 suffered injuries within the same period, and 35 dogs died. In Iowa, 417 Greyhounds got hurt, and 29 died.
Since most countries like Ireland, the USA, Australia, and Mexico don’t have to report, these numbers are low estimates. In that same eight-year period, over 1000 race dogs died from injuries or were euthanized because of their injuries.
Most Greyhounds have short racing careers. They average 18 months to 5 years on the circuit before they’re retired. Many lose their lives to injuries. Others are forced into retirement because they’re losing money on racetracks. Others are sent back to barracks for breeding.
To make dogs run faster, Florida tracks documented over 438 positive drug test results, including 73 incidents with cocaine. Many illegal drugs surface in other countries like Great Britain and Australia.
Every year, 8000 new litters enter the gaming world in the USA, Australia, and Ireland. This means that 48,000 puppies enter the system. Not all have the racing gene. Many of these puppies end up in destinations with no animal protection laws. Greyhound racing owners only care about breeding the fastest dog. It goes without saying that many of these puppies end up dead.
