Don’t care at all about Harry Potter controversies, but Tim’s is a garbage franchise that’s my absolute last choice for a meal when nothing else is available. McDonald’s is a significant step up from them.

Never a big Tim's fan but there is one close to the office I'd hit on occassion for an iced Capp or a tea. Stopped last week when the Harry Potter shit dropped and won't be going back.

McDonald's may have its own ethical issues, but their offerings taste just as good. In fact, salted caramel frap is much better than iced capp. I said what I said.
I just had both back to back, iced capp just hits different but I must admit McD is cooking with the salted caramel frap.
I do like their coffee...
Tim Hortons is un-Canadian.
They're not Canadian-owned. All they've done is become the most common drive-thru coffee chain, while wrapping up the Canadian identity and trying to sell it back to Canadians.
It's sad that people still see it as Canadian. Today, it's not much more Canadian than McDonalds.
JK Rowling is the architect of the deaths of trans kids, she is not welcome in Canada. First Nations would be furious if she was allowed to enter.

The why, I'd guess is: her Pottermore additions Pretty sure her response was terrible as well. I don't feel like looking into that one though, don't want to deal with sifting through the anti-trans rhetoric, right now.
I would boycott, except I haven't bought anything there in years on account of it not being good.
Been avoiding them for more than a decade. Can't avoid them harder. :| Sadly individual action is rarely effective against large corpos and they persevere. Still we do what we can.
Haven't their sales been declining. I wouldn't say it is not working.

He said Tim Hortons Canada and RBI’s international business have each delivered 19 consecutive quarters of positive comparable sales so far.
RBI's revenues are up which means sales are growing even if their net income has dropped in this report from Feb 2026. No specific breakdown per brand but they say Timmies is 44% of their op profit in a previous report. Their net income has grown significantly sicne before the pandemic.
Again - for me this isn't a reason to visit Timmies or to stop encouraging friends and family to boycott. Rather it's a reason to understand this action is very unlikely to achieve a the structural changes that I'd like to see.

Yes, that's the best case scenario. In that case large firms tend to adapt with as little cost as possible to "comply." Collective action in their workforce as well as organized campaign to curb their TFW access is what they're really afraid of. Cause that tends to hit their bottom line hard.
Again, not saying we shouldn't take individual action when possible, just that it's not enough to enact the structural changes needed to put large firms in their place. I'm still making sure everyone I know knows what shit turd Timmie's is and why they may wanna avoid it.
RIP Tim Hortons. This is not the final nail in the coffin because the coffin has already been nailed closed, chained shut, coated in epoxy and encased in concrete and buried for years. I stopped shopping there when they stopped cooking donuts in-store, but every decision they've made since then has only made me more committed. If they want to pour a dumptruck load more nails on top of the burial mound they are certainly welcome to do that and I welcome anything they can do to make it even less likely that I will ever accidentally come near a Tim Horton's again. They're continuing to do a great job and I thank them for it.
Damn, gonna have to give up my iced capp addiction 😔

This was so disappointing to see. Haven't thought Tim Hortons was Canadian for a long time. The decline continues - not going there anymore.
