That's Finnish lol, in Estonia it'd be called Jõulusokk (sokk meaning both sock and stag), never seen anyone don the costume in the parts of the country I've lived in, but folk costumes differ by region even in our tiny country.
Most folk costumes are very different from this though.
Anyone have context for the purpose or use of these costumes? They seem very intricate and some are more nightmare material (at least to me)
It's probably hard to say with a lot of them, because Christianity rebranded a lot of ancient traditions... Like Christmas and Easter.
Lots of weird costumes and traditions with them wearing them are rooted in pagan traditions.
