St Lucy, who's martyrdom involved having her eyes plucked out is usually is pictured with her holding them on a plate. Often something that looks like a pedestal cake platter.
Strangely though, she always seems to still have her eyes in their sockets. I've never understood that.
Somehow, the eyeballs on the plate usually end up looking like Muppet eyeballs. More often than not, Cookie Monster's. Not no much the ones in this picture.
