General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

I'm sorry but, whatever you think of him, these powers are clearly being abused.

"Police recently issued a warning about hate crime following a demonstration outside a house in the Castlemilk area of Glasgow where windows were said to have been smashed."

No. Fuck the nazi prick who stirs the shit and gets innocent people attacked because of the colour of their skin.

Because he was questioned?

Houston, who says he is a member of Restore Britain, has not been arrested or charged, but police confirmed his electronic devices were seized.

Not being charged with anything but still having your devices seized, is kinda BS.

It's pretty normal if you are being investigated by the police. It's part of policing, is it not?

It would require a warrant for police (at least here in Canada), phones contain a lot of highly personal data. Border guards have more authority but should still require some justification.

Just because he's a dirt bag Nazi doesn't mean we should support taking his devices and searching them, without a disclosed reason behind it.
