Ferrari missing out a 1-2 because of strategy, good result but still managed to fit in a small screw-up in the end

It was the right call, Ham had very old hards vs Rus with newer Mediums (I think). But somehow the FIA manages to mess it up again (I mean with the โSafety car in this lapโ message and then: โups naaa that jestingโ)
Fair, if we had one last racing lap it would have been a great shakeup on the front, Russell could've taken the chance for P1 and probably some fight for podium. But yeah, race got FIAd
No way Russel would have been able to attack, with both Ferraris having Softs. All in all, it was a hard call for Ferrari and they thought they would have had 1 or 2 laps left. I donโt see it as a big mistake.

It's still so weird to me, Kimi says something fundamental is wrong and they're like "I guess we'll change front wing ๐คทโโ๏ธ". I am not an engineer or aerodynamicist but I don't understand what that would fix in this case.
They just do it because it doesn't hurt. The car will stand there for at least a couple of seconds so why not? What if they realize after 5 seconds that it was the front wing? Better start changing it as soon as possible.
Gives a little time to do visual inspection on the front suspension too! You only have a few tools in the toolbox with a ridiculously vague problem statement so might as well try a few things to maybe not have to come back in
A front wing change typically adds 10-12 seconds to a pit stop.
Yes, but how likely is it that they find and fix the unknown issue in less than 10 seconds? It's really unlikely that changing the front wing will hurt.

This race is not THAT bad ... i expected worst. I am pleasantly surprised. Its not anything spectacular but shit is happening on the grid, and it does not seem synthetic.
Doesn't help they are not showing all the overtakes.

It was the right call to keep Leclerc out. He's got a better chance of defending for 12 laps than catching kimi in 12.

There's a reason Toto has been keen on him since he was 12. His hype was for a reason, if anything I was surprised at the amount of people writing him off during his slump last year despite the promise he showed through junior categories.
I was actually surprised from him and bortoleto, Kimi made a good impression on me last year as a rookie. I dont understand the people that were writing him off, he seemed to have great potential, raw talent, it was about time to be polished, it even happened too fast!

Seems like heโs starting on the grid in 7th. At least thatโs what I just saw after the grid walk and a quick chat to him.
its going to be a very hard day for us Max fans ... I think the next few races are going to be in the same ball park haha
saw the interview with Max ... dude simply said the car is the same, its bad, starts are going to be bad, and race pace is dead. Well ... I will have a very hard week again I presume haha
