What happened to the forefathers of the US to make them start using guerilla tactics? Did they just look at the whole thing and say if we keep this up it will be a war of attrition and changed moves? (lemmy.world)

Or did they know or been in situations like this before? At what point in the British military did they come in contact with this style of fighting? That it was such a sticking point that the whole of society knew what happened to their soldiers?
