When I see European countries overperforming in the world cup and consistenty beat non-European countries it reminds me that football infrastructure and economic development is still unequal. I hope that at the next world cup non-European countries have caught up a little.

Even the non European countries who perform well have their players either trained entirely by European academies or have their players in Europe from a young age. I feel like only Argentina, Brazil and maybe Egypt come somewhat close.
True, it's sad. But I saw that Egypt's players almost entirely play in the Egyptian league. I feel they are maybe the best example of a country not relying on Europe. I feel like even Brazil and Argentina send their best players to Europe before they turn 20.
I got fatter as I became bedridden for five month because of my knee surgery. I'm not ashamed of my body, but I'm not happy with its current condition too. How can I keep a sane body image while losing weight?
Just don't think about the aesthetics and don't step on a scale. Focus on fitness based metrics, like being able to run a certain distance in time or being able to do a certain number of pushups.
Thanks for the tips!
Did a Kennedymarch last night until this afternoon which is a hike of 50 miles (80km) in 20 hours. It was such an assault on my body lol. Can't imagine being forced to do something like this while fleeing war or something.
My number had a picture of Kennedy on it and did luckily fade really quick.
I once visited a trophy shop that had a medal featuring the pentagram that's in the coat of arms of Haaksbergen, which made it look like "JFK was a Satanist" conspiracy shit

Yeah I saw several of them and I wondered what that was about
I don't know why there isn't more backlash in the USA about Independence Day. Even in Australia there is some controversy about Australia Day
i guess maybe for certain "left" groups, the feeling of celebrating the military defeat of the english overshadows the more rational consideration of the genocides and slavery that motivated the war to start with. obviously that consideration wouldn't apply for australia. the us "left" also worships the military a lot more than even other western countries as far as i can tell, so it becomes even easier to do this.
It's July 4th in the US, and mediocre fireworks are everywhere, flying nearly as freely as our cheap beer and racism. It wasn't many at all, but I was still stunned to see grown adults wearing "patriotic" clothing. I guess it's true what they say. When the going gets rough, double down on delusion.
Good morning
Presently I am thinking about authoring a quiz on Fascism.
Does anybody know of a good website for designing quizzes? (Preferably nothing Google-related.)
Sporcle? Although I don't know if the format is what you're looking for
Small pain point about living in a neoliberal hellscape is that we can't have a Pokedex-style encyclopedia app about everything.
Wikipedia comes close, but it only explains "relevant" things (so no specific documentation for a niche program), it's horribly biased against material reality in anything politics, and there's no manuals or how-tos in it.
Your sleep hygiene tonight may depend on it!
Depression is fucking with me lately more so than usual and then I'll casually run into other people online who are also western and who seem to have an even worse situation and mental state than I do. Not that it's a competition, but like, I guess this is what decline looks like. I do not remember it seeming this bad even during the height of the pandemic, but maybe I was in different circles or I'm remembering it as less bad than it was. Either way, it certainly doesn't seem to have improved since then.
It's not random discontent, too. Like a repeating theme I see, is someone's home situation is shitty and/or their job. Sometimes their health is doing poorly too, physical, mental, or both. Or other people they live with have suffering health and that's part of the problem.
Meanwhile, in the US they're making the poor people healthcare more means tested. And this in an already hyper individualist, hyper divided "society". I keep wondering when "in decline" transitions to "powder keg". Not like I want it to be one, but this shit ain't sustainable.
Sometimes I wonder if I "have depression" or if I "am depressed" because that is the natural response to the situation. Maybe the people who aren't depressed are just not really aware of what is going on around them, or they are high on other drugs.
Maybe there is nothing wrong with you. Also happy cake day.

Hard to say since there are surely a lot of people who are "self medicating" with one thing or another. It reminds of this Marshall Rosenberg guy who was big into this idea of unmet needs causing a lot of problems, including depression. I don't think he knew about the "chemical imbalance" kind of depression, the research on that may have come after, but anyway, it really stuck with me thinking about unmet needs. Even though in retrospect, I think his worldview was severely lacking some dialectical and historical materialism, I do believe he had a point about unmet needs causing a lot of problems; he just wasn't going far enough into why people rampantly had unmet needs to begin with.
Also happy cake day.
Thanks. It's a bit funny to me that it occurs on the 4th of July. I'm pretty sure the reason for that was me feeling alone among people who were sincerely celebrating the 4th and so seeking this place out.
This might sound cruel but self immolation is not an effective protest technique. Because when it's over, you're dead and nothing has changed.
I'm not gonna ivory tower judge somebody who does it, but as strategy goes, we need more experienced organizers who live a long, storied life of organizing, not more martyrs. So yeah. People who are willing to risk everything for liberation are commendable, but I'd rather they do it taking out an imperialist than doing a symbolic act that takes out themself.
Nope not cruel. Self immolation is stupid.
A while ago, a soldier from the USA did self immolation to protest against the Palestinian Genocide.
Even though he was literally screaming "Free Palestine", the reporters said that his protest was for "unknown reasons". The audio of the video of his self immolation was muted.
I won't disrespect this man's choice, but it simply wasn't effective.
Aaron Bushnell. He did the wrong thing for the right reasons. Which is something but it isn't something to be celebrated. Kinda like how Luigi did close to the right thing for some of the right reasons.
Sometimes I wonder who profits off the fake information regarding some dietary choices like drinking raw milk and eating red or raw meat because you are just actively harming your audience lol. They will, statistically, live shorter and will on average face more health problems.
Everyone’s still on the gravy train. Agribusiness (Think Tyson Foods, Cargill, JBS, and National Beef, big four) is expanding revenue after colonizing all possible markets by getting the existing customers to buy more. A cottage industry of small/alternative business douchebags (Joe Rogan, Gwyneth Paltrow) can sell other products like supplements or merch while profiting symbiotically with much more developed industries and interests like big beef.
It’s all about that death drive. Since the orientation of this all is just to accumulate, the negative health effects of the buy-what-we-tell-you diet or environmental damages (JBS being a big contributor too Amazon deforestation, and cattle ranching being behind 80% of it) aren’t factored in
Maybe it's spectacle. Some guys harm their own health in order to get more views, including but not exclusive to raw meat eaters.
I'm sure that most of the audience isn't gonna adopt a raw meat diet, but watching someone rant about dietary conspiracies or eating garbage is part of their entertainment. I think it's like mukbangs.
tldr: If it attracts views and doesn't harm bourgeois profits, it will be done. If it draws attention away from class war and into culture "war", it will be done.
Good afternoon ig
Low key sad that I'll never be able to learn every language on this planet. So many cultures, so little time.
How do the emojis for Lemmygrad work in general?
I only see this:

some of them work but I think there may have been some lost in the image host debacle

this is what i see from my laptop
We had 1222 extra deaths in Belgium during the heatwave last week and a half
Yikes. add their names to the Victims of Capitalism Memorial Wall.
