Finally...

And their app store too hopefully

Apple has gotten away with so much crap that other vendors never would have been able to, from misleading ads, to forcing developers to buy apple hardware to develop software for their store

Sure, but can they go after Google and the shit they are doing to make installing APKs harder too

The US government keeps going after Google though... Almost continuously

I suspect part of the reason they started locking down eventually was because they realized Apple was getting away with a lot of stuff, whereas US Congress was literally trying to force them to admit that if they walked 10m, that Google would know.

There is definitely a bias in US government towards Apple (a lot of them likely own shares)

Both companies have problems with being a monopoly. Honestly though, Apple's problems are far bigger

Thereโ€™s no reason that the iCloud interface couldnโ€™t be an API that can be any one of the competition, and if they design it reasonably, it could even be encrypted and secure.

I want to be able to use Nextcloud the same way youโ€™d have iCloud, without any hiccups in background sync and all this mess we have right nowโ€ฆ

Also they are in breach of GDPR too because theyโ€™re not allowing data portability, if you request an iCloud Photos dump, youโ€™ll get scrambled & non-usable files which you cannot easily import in whichever media platform you want โ€ฆ

Choice of cloud for photo library!

Choice of cloud backup, choice of app store.
