Mhhh not sure how I feel about this. It gives a bit of toxic positivity tbh =/

Like, yes, you should not badmouth yourself but telling other people "just say you're gorge instead" also doesn't really hit.

It's an overcorrection that's meant to make one feel uncomfortable

When have I ever? I've never spoken negatively about myself in my life!

Charge me with tax evasion, bitch.

[–] TotallynotJessica@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Sorry, you're a gorgeous lady; nothing personal 😎

I've seen evidence to the contrary! You be hearing from my lawyer!

Sorry, but I never trust people's own appraisals of themselves. I not even sure what I actually look like, only what over people have said about me.

I may have to start enforcing this on my (cis) partner.

Do that.

Not only have they got Big Beauty Business telling them they need improvement, I hear all the time in women's spaces how if woman goes out looking good and feeling confident, and a man compliments her and she responds with "I know" or "Yes I am" he will be angry, call her a stuck-up bitch, etc. So you and she can both build each other up, fuck the patriarchy.

Real love β€” the one that actually matters because it's the one that survives through the difficulty of life's challenges β€” cares way more about the beauty inside anyway. It's the only explanation I have for my spouse loving me. Keep your chin up, "the one" will love you for who you are - those relationships based more on appearance virtually always fail.

Does being a woman necessitate being beautiful?

I mean, I think basically all women are beautiful, so I guess? Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―

Our overly consumerist society hypes that fear to death in order to sell you "fixes."
